Her Royal Highness the Nnaabagereka of Buganda, who is the Queen consort of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the King of Buganda, is a transformational leader and an ardent advocate of human development rooted in cultural values. Her Royal Highness is the first Queen in the history of the kingdom, to establish an office in Bulange, the seat of the Kingdom of Buganda, to compliment the ongoing development work of the kingdom, and of the Government of Uganda.

Through the Nnaabagereka Development Foundation, which she founded in 2000, she has been able to do charitable work for children, the youth, and women in education, health care, community development, and initiatives that advance good cultural values and practice for sustainable development.

She is an icon who is highly regarded in society for her leadership and is renowned as a champion for mobilizing, sensitizing and empowering girls and boys including children with disabilities, the youth, and women, and for advancing Obuntubulamu as a strategic approach in all Foundation programmes and projects, that empowers individuals to reclaim their cultural heritage and encourages the use of cultural values as a tool for human development.

Her Royal Highness has been recognised for her foundational work and was chosen to be a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund in Uganda; a Torch Bearer for the Millennium Development Goals (MDG3); an Ambassador for Mama Club (an organisation for mothers living with HIV/AIDS), and a champion for the Campaign to End Paediatric HIV/AIDS in Uganda. She is also a patron of Hospice Africa Uganda, ChildFund International Uganda, Female Sponsorship Foundation Makerere University Uganda, Special Olympics Uganda, and the Programme for Accessible Health Communication and Education, and Conservation through Public Health, and the Buganda Kingdom Tourism Board.

She was the founder member of the African Queens and Women Cultural Leaders Network, co-founder and patron of African Royals for Culture and Development, a member of the Board of the African Philanthropy Forum, and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Global Thinkers Forum.

Her Royal Highness works closely with the Ministry of Health in Uganda, UNAIDS, UNICEF, and WHO in Uganda as well as other civil society organisations on community health related interventions.

Her Royal Highness has delivered keynote speeches and made presentations at the African Grant Makers Network in Accra, Ghana; the African Women’s Development Foundation/Grant Makers Network Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania; the 5th UK–Uganda Trade Investment Convention in London, UK; the Global Philanthropy Forum Conference in Redwood, California; Global Power Women Network Africa Summit in Harare, Zimbabwe; TEDx Euston in UK; the 23rd International Conference on Family Planning in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Malawi International Women’s Conference; the 2015 World Bank Conference on Land an Poverty in Washington DC; the 92nd Conference and Assembly of Rotary District 9211 in Arusha, Tanzania; the World Economic Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, and the Africa Philanthropy Forum in Lagos, Nigeria – among many others.
